Fetch ("we," "our," or "us") operates the Fetch mobile application and the website at fetchwx.com. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
By using Fetch, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app or website.
We collect the minimum information needed to provide you with accurate forecasts and a personalized experience.
Account information. When you create an account, we collect your email address and an encrypted password. We use Supabase for authentication and database services. Your password is hashed and never stored in plain text.
Location data. With your permission, Fetch accesses your device's location to provide local weather, surf, and sail forecasts. You can revoke location access at any time through your device settings. If you deny location access, you can still use the app by manually searching for locations.
User preferences. We store your preferences — such as your home break, favorite spots, preferred units (feet vs meters, Fahrenheit vs Celsius), and active modes (Surf, Sail, Weather) — in our database so they sync across sessions and devices.
Waitlist emails. If you join our waitlist on fetchwx.com, we collect your email address for the sole purpose of notifying you about Fetch's launch and updates. You can request removal at any time by emailing us.
Usage data. We do not currently use any third-party analytics or tracking tools. We do not track your behavior within the app. If we add analytics in the future, we will update this policy and notify you.
Information we do NOT collect:
Your data is stored securely using Supabase, which runs on Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure. Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Our database uses Row-Level Security (RLS) policies to ensure users can only access their own data.
Transactional emails (account confirmation, password reset) are sent through Resend using our verified domain fetchwx.com. We do not share your email with Resend for any purpose other than delivering these transactional messages.
Fetch uses the following third-party services to operate:
We do not share your personal information with any of these services beyond what is necessary for them to function (for example, Supabase stores your account data, and Resend receives your email address to deliver confirmation messages).
Fetch offers optional premium subscriptions processed entirely through Apple's App Store. We do not collect, process, or store any payment information (credit card numbers, billing addresses, etc.). All billing is handled by Apple according to their terms and privacy policy.
You have the following rights regarding your data:
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal data from our systems within 30 days. Some data may be retained in encrypted backups for up to 90 days before being permanently deleted.
Waitlist emails are retained until we send the launch notification, after which they are deleted unless you create an account.
Fetch is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected data from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@fetchwx.com.
We take reasonable measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit and at rest, secure authentication via Supabase, and Row-Level Security policies on our database. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the app or by email. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Your continued use of Fetch after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
